Snapchat is a very popular social media app for teens. The app allows you to communicate with friends, see what they’re up to, listen to the news and save memories.
While I have snapchat, I have slowly grown out of it over the years. Now I find it funny when people send streaks because it was so popular in 2016 and 2017, but not as much today. The real reason I use snapchat aside from talking to a couple friends (I am not the best at answering my messages because I am on it for 10 minutes a day) is to look at my memories from the past few years.. It is honestly one of my favorite parts of the day because I get to look back in time and remember what I was doing each day. For example, a year ago today I was with my friends IN SCHOOL. COVID was not a big deal, nobody really knew about it and everything felt normal. It makes me so happy to know that I have thousands of memories from every day of the year from eighth grade all throughout high school.
I was wondering, however, what will snapchat become in 50 years? Will future generations continue to use it? Will my generation continue to use it? Will I have memories from 50 years ago? How will snapchat hold hundreds of thousands of MY memories alone?
The answers to these questions will come with time. I do hope, however, that I am able to save them to my phone, icloud or YouTube. I want to create a video of all of my memories so I can look back on them as I grow up. My mom has scrapbooks, I have snapchat!
